The mission of the U.S. Department of Energy's Beijing Office (DOE-B) is to support the implementation of DOE and NNSA nonproliferation and energy programs in the People's Republic of China (PRC). Regarding NNSA's nonproliferation programs, DOE-B works to increase the national security of the United States by working cooperatively with Chinese counterparts to increase the physical protection of Chinese materials and to develop the nonproliferation partnership.
The political relationship between the U.S. and the PRC continues to develop and important interactions are underway on issues of regional and Asian security, as well as global concerns such as arms control, nuclear nonproliferation, climate change, and worldwide energy supplies. Embassy officers engage Russian government officials on these and many other bilateral and international issues. The DOE Beijing Office directly assists these Embassy officers and visiting DOE/NNSA representatives to implement DOE/NNSA programs.
