Develop and Demonstrate Technologies for Detecting Foreign Nuclear Weapons Programs

The Office of Proliferation Detection (PD), focuses is on developing the tools, technologies, techniques, and expertise to address the most challenging problems related to detection, localization, and analysis of the global proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, with special emphasis on nuclear weapon technology and the diversion of special nuclear materials.  These pre-detonation activities are divided into three elements:
