“Alice is a dedicated public servant and an asset to the NNSA management team,” said D’Agostino.  “Her leadership is instrumental as we transform our nuclear weapons complex to help NNSA achieve its goals to restore, rebuild and revitalize the physical infrastructure and accelerate risk reduction and cleanup of the environmental legacy at NNSA sites.”

Williams has twenty years of federal service where she served in the field (Idaho Operations Office and Ohio Field Office/West Valley Demonstration Project) and in headquarters (Office of New Production Reactors, Office of Environmental Management and the National Nuclear Security Administration).  She played key roles in the department's major initiatives to develop innovative solutions to complex environmental issues, including rail transport of used nuclear fuel, facility decommissioning and land use plans.

Williams received a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry from Montana State University and a Master of Engineering degree in chemical engineering from the University of Idaho.

Established by Congress in 2000, NNSA is a separately organized agency within the U.S. Department of Energy responsible for enhancing national security through the military application of nuclear science.  NNSA maintains and enhances the safety, security, reliability and performance of the U.S. nuclear weapons stockpile without nuclear testing; works to reduce global danger from weapons of mass destruction; provides the U.S. Navy with safe and effective nuclear propulsion; and responds to nuclear and radiological emergencies in the United States and abroad.
